For an internet marketer just starting out with affiliate marketing networks, the first question is usually, “How do I know if my affiliate marketing website will make money?” The answer is an easy one: “You don’t know.” In fact, no one does. But there is one thing that you can do to increase your chances of affiliate marketing success:

Build trust.

If you start a new blog or website, no one knows who you are so you have to first build a relationship with your visitors and build trust. The way that you build relationships and eventually trust is to provide rich content--useful information that is of value to your audience. It’s not just a one-shot deal; you have to be consistent and soon you will see affiliate sales because people trust you.

Finding a niche for your affiliate marketing business doesn’t have to be difficult.

Do you have something that you’re knowledgeable about? If you already have the knowledge, creating the content will be an easy task. The big question is will it be profitable? Doing some research will answer this question for you.

Do you have something that you are passionate about--a hobby, a skill, etc.? Creating content will be exciting and motivating because it’s something you love; but again, you must find out if it will lead to affiliate sales.

Do you know of something that is in demand--what people want? If you tap into a market that people are already buying in, that’s great, but the downside is that it will also be competitive. Do your research and find affiliate network products that match your niche. Don’t worry if you don’t succeed the first time; there are thousands of products that you can try.

If you aren’t familiar with Web 2.0, I’ll make it easy for you. Blogs, MySpace, Digg, Twitter, Squidoo--all are part of the Web 2.0 family. Now, it’s time you start using Web 2.0 as an affiliate marketing tool.

We all know the traditional way of creating a web page, driving traffic to it and testing and tracking the progress. Blogs, Squidoo, Hubpages, etc. has opened the door to a whole new way of promoting your affiliate business. By joining in the discussions or even starting your own, you can market your affiliate products and build a list of like-minded individuals at the same time. Remember, these sites were not meant to be sales pages, and you shouldn’t use them as such. Mention your affiliate marketing business through discussions when appropriate and you will do just fine with your home business.
